清宮幸太郎 背番号「２１」
今年のドラフトを賑わせた高校通算１１１本塁打を放った
早稲田実業高の清宮幸太郎は、日本ハムに入団することとなった。
ちなみに、１９７３年に日本ハムファイターズとなった際、
香川出身の大社義規オーナーは、
同郷の三原脩を球団代表、監督を中西太とした。
注目を集めた清宮の背番号は「２１」。
日本球界では、投手の番号である。
先日、娘を模試会場に送る際。

娘「なんかメジャーの永久欠番になってる
黒人選手の背番号なんやって！」
父「そうなん！？！

ロベルト・クレメンテでした。
プエルトリコ出身のヒスパニック系の黒人選手で、
メジャー通算打率 .３１７！！！
首位打者を４度獲得した名選手というだけでなく、
貧しい生い立ちながら、いやだからこそ生涯を通じて慈善活動を行った選手。
出身のプエルトリコや周辺のラテンアメリカ諸国へ、野球道具や食料を配布。

開催した際、自分への記念品の贈呈を拒み、小児科医に治療費として寄付。
３８才で３０００本安打を達成したオフに起こった、
ニカラグアでの地震の後、被災地への救援物資を運ぶ飛行機に同上したが
墜落し、現役選手のまま死亡。
以後、メジャーリーグでは、人格者であり慈善活動を精力的に
行っている選手に「ロベルト・クレメンテ賞」として表彰している。
日本ハム球団は、清宮幸太郎に、成績だけでなく、
ロベルト・クレメンテのような選手になってくれることを、
またその存在を知ってもらうことを意図してのこと。
身体が前に突っ込まず、逆方向にも長打を打てる打力は、
文句なく素晴らしい！
プロのスピードとキレに順応するために時間は必要でしょうが、
あんなにバットが軽く見える選手は見たことがありません。
