「聡明」とは、「頭がさえ、理解力があってかしこいこと」と手元の辞書にあります。加えて、「「聡」は耳が、「明」は目がさといこと。」とあります。
地元タウン誌「ＴＪかがわ」の建築家紹介システム、「建てようネット」を通じて、仕事がスタートしました。
空間構成は明快です。そして、実は複雑です。中庭に面してＬ字型の構成。１階は玄関とリビング・ダイニング。そして、収納と勝手口。２階は主寝室と子供たちのスペース、洗面・浴室に収納。中２階に、トイレと家族兼用の書斎。
クライアントからの要望は、いわば箇条書きのようなもので、そこには優先順位はなく、時に矛盾があるものです。それに、優先順位をつけて合理的に整理していくお手伝いをするのがぼくの大きな仕事だと思っています。
ご主人は、ご自分の希望するところと、奥さんの考えを優先させるところ、そして、ぼくに任せる部分を常に自問自答される方でした。
そして、こちらからの提案をまず咀嚼しようと努め、奥さんに確認する部分、ぼくに確認する部分を見出し、自身の理解を深めていきます。納得するまで考え、その場で答えの出ないことは、考え方の要点だけを確認し持ち帰りました。
中庭のスクリーンは、周囲の風景や、天候の様相を抽象化しながら、その変化を刻々と伝えます。それが生み出す中庭は、自然豊かな周辺の環境と、隣接する実家と、生活の空間をやわらかく融和し、静寂を与え、そして、家族のそれぞれの空間をひとつのものとして束ねることとなりました。
クライアントの聡明な思考の積み重ねが、この環境に最適な解を共有し、そして最適な空間を見出せたのではないかと思います。
